Contribution à l’étude diachronique du vocabulaire relatif au son : remarques sur la traduction du livre V du De architectura de Vitruve par Jean Martin (1547)

Abstract

Our study try to precise the signification about words which we can find to speak about the sound in technical, scientific or practice texts since this words were apprehended only through literary source within ancient and modern dictionary. Precisely, this paper deals with lexical choices made by Jean Martin in his translation of De Architectura of Vitruvius, which is the first French translation (1547). This translation has been followed by several other translations (including those of Claude Perrault, Charles Maufras, Catherine Saliou). We targeted three terms: loquence and barbotement which are a product of an interpretation of the Vitruvius text, and resonance of which the Martin use is, in other hand, a product of a semantic change.
