La phytopharmacovigilance : une surveillance intégrée des expositions des populations et des effets indésirables des produits phytopharmaceutiques.

Abstract : The phytopharmacovigilance (PPV) is an integrated tool developed by the French Food Environment and Occupational Health Safety Agency (Anses) following the Agriculture Act of 2014 in France. PPV aims to detect undesirable effects of plant protection products (PPP) on human health and the environment. It relies on three pillars : a network of partners managing monitoring or vigilance systems, spontaneous declaration of undesirable effects by the population (mandatory for professionals) and studies to complete the data provided by the network of partners. In the field of food safety, governmental surveillance plans provide data on residues of PPPs in food products. This data is combined with intake data to estimate exposure to residues. Dietary exposures are compared to acceptable daily intakes for risk assessment. Total diet studies provide more realistic exposure data considering concentrations of pesticide residues in food as consumed, after preparation and cooking. Dietary exposures are also interpreted by considering agricultural practices and use of PPs. Finally, epidemiological studies like cohorts try to identify links between dietary exposure to PPPs and health.
